The Pioneer Woman Cooks Cookbook Giveaway!

Pin It Now!
Just in time for Christmas, I went out and got TWO copies of The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl. One for myself naturally and one copy for YOU!

The author is Ree Drummond who has a very popular blog on a variety of topics. She covers day to day life, food, homeschooling, and photography (I'm quite jealous of her photography skills).

My husband and I have recently decided to use a budget and follow the Dave Ramsey plan (more on that to come). Because we're spending our money more carefully we are eating in a lot more and that has sent me on a search for a new recipe book. This cookbook is supporting a blogging friend, has yummy looking recipes and comes with gorgeous photographs!

To enter: Leave a comment in this post telling me your favorite Christmas treat (sweet or savory accepted). :) Easy, huh?

My Sweet Talent

Pin It Now!

Here's my favorite fondant roses and I'm going to show you how to make them.

fondant rose
Here I am!

Okay, okay, so it's not such a talent as much as it is a hobby. I love to bake and decorate cakes. I've done them for birthdays, baby showers, and just about any excuse I can find. Here's my short video on how to make a super simple rose. I think it's quite elegant and only takes a few moments (and no skill) to do. I hope you enjoy the video.

They can be quickly add a little something extra to your cakes.

Below are a few recent cakes I've made:

Baby shower cake for a darling little girl! : )

I love this cake! It's a mom's bum sticking out of the washing machine. : )

Please let me know if you have any baking questions that I might be able to answer for you.

Have a sweet & beautiful day ladies!

Mortgage Apple Cake?

Pin It Now! Have you heard about Angela Logan and her Mortgage Apple Cake? It's inspiring to say the least! Mrs. Logan, a single mom with three kids had a "construction fiasco" which resulted in a foreclosure notice on her home. She and her kids came together with the idea to bake and sell cakes to cover the remaining payment...a payment of $2,500! This large payment was due in two weeks so the family had to come together and work hard. They were on the right track but when the press heard about it everything changed. : ) You can here the rest of the story here.
