Save Lids To Save Lives

I love to see all the individuals and businesses - large and small - working to fight against breast cancer. If you don't know yet, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer within her lifetime; that's 12 percent of all women who will be personally impacted by the disease.

Those numbers are staggering.

Absolutely staggering!

Even if you are one of the 'fortunate 7' out of 8 who doesn'tt get a personal diagnosis, you are sure to know someone else who has been diagnosed. Breast cancer has a personal impact on us all.

Yoplait is working with Susan G. Komen for the Cure again this year - they've donated millions of dollars over the last decade. You may have noticed the specially marked pink lids on Yoplait products in your grocery store. For each one that you save, wash, and send in, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. They will donate up to 1.5 million and at least $500,000 (see site for full details)

This year Yoplait is making it easier than ever for you to join with others in their Save Lids to Save Lives program. You can start up a team or join an existing team to encourage each others and work together.



Send in your lids by December 31, 2009.

Kelly Ripa and Electrolux Launch a Virtual Lemonade Stand

Kelly Rip and Elecrolux have teamed up with the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund to help raise funds and awareness.

Go to electroluxappliances.com, to get “Cool For A Cause” to design and start selling lemonade from your own virtual lemonade stand. You can even pick what types of lemonade you want to sell like Rosemary Watermelon Lemonade, Raspberry Mint or Citrus Twist, just to name a few.

For every stand opened, Electrolux will donate $1 to OCRF as part of its $500,000 commitment to help fight ovarian cancer.

In addition, you can raise more money by selling the virtual lemonade in your stand. After you create your stand, you will get a link that goes directly to your page and you can send that to all your friends and family asking them to donate to this special cause. 100% of the proceeds will go to OCRF.

Once you open your lemonade stand (and everyday you log in and visit your stand) you’ll be entered for a chance to win a new French Door Refrigerator with a Perfect Temp Drawer™ from Electrolux. When people visit your stand, they will also have a chance to win.
